About Linewise

Linewise captures how physical things are made, from the first design to the final assembly, and turns it into training data for frontier AI and robotics models. Our long-term aim is Physical RSI: recursive self-improvement for the physical world, where AI helps engineers design and plan, robots help build and inspect, and each generation makes better machines, lines and factories for the next. This role is part of Linewise Engineering, which captures the decisions behind a part: requirements, design iterations and analysis, process plans and inspection records, including rejected designs.

About the role

You'll work hands-on with engineering data. You build datasets yourself, from CAD models and simulation to process plans, check contributors' work against the spec, and help grow the team of engineering contributors. It suits a mechanical engineer who enjoys CAD work and pays close attention to detail.

What you'll do

• Build engineering datasets: CAD models, simulation and FEA, and process plans.
• Check contributors' work against the spec before it's accepted.
• Write clear feedback so contributors can fix issues and get it right next time.
• Help find, onboard and support new engineering contributors.
• Flag gaps and unclear points in the spec so it gets better over time.

What we're looking for

• A degree in mechanical engineering.
• Hands-on CAD experience.
• Close attention to detail. You notice what's missing as well as what's wrong.
• Good written and spoken English.

Nice to have

• FEA or simulation experience.
• Exposure to manufacturing or process planning.

How we work

• You own your area end to end, from the first spec to the final delivery.
• You work closely with engineers, operators and researchers.
• English is the working language. We're based in San Francisco, with global operations.
