About Linewise

Linewise captures how physical things are made, from the first design to the final assembly, and turns it into training data for frontier AI and robotics models. Our long-term aim is Physical RSI: recursive self-improvement for the physical world, where AI helps engineers design and plan, robots help build and inspect, and each generation makes better machines, lines and factories for the next. This role is part of Linewise Research, which develops our methods for capture, quality control, annotation and model evaluation, and our agent-native data infrastructure. All of it is built around real industrial tasks.

About the role

You'll build the infrastructure that takes industrial data, from engineering files to large volumes of video, from capture to delivery. Much of this work is done by AI agents working alongside people, and you'll build the systems that make it reliable, secure and observable. It's a file-heavy, human-in-the-loop system, and you'll own it in production.

What you'll do

• Build pipelines that move large files and video reliably from capture to delivery.
• Build the platform that people and AI agents use to review and prepare data.
• Keep customer data secure, with sound access control and auditability.
• Run the system in production: deployments, monitoring and incident response.
• Work with researchers and operators to turn manual work into dependable software.

What we're looking for

• At least five years of backend, infrastructure or platform engineering.
• Strong in Python, TypeScript, Go or a similar language, with production experience in relational databases and distributed systems.
• Hands-on Google Cloud experience (AWS also counts), including access control and key management.
• Experience building with LLM agents and tool use.
• Good written English, and comfort working across time zones.

• You work closely with engineers, operators and researchers.
• English is the working language. We're based in San Francisco, with global operations.
